Full House Theater Company has announced the upcoming original Filipino musical “Kailangan Kita: An Ogie Alcasid Musical,” featuring songs by OPM singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid.
The musical was unveiled during the closing performance of “Bongga Ka, ’Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Saturday, October 31.
The announcement likewise featured a teaser performance showcasing a medley of Alcasid’s hit songs, including “Kailangan Kita,” “Dito sa Puso Ko,” and “Hanggang Ngayon.”
The medley was performed by Sheena Belarmino, Rapah Manalo, Ethan David, Poppert Bernadas, Yna Arbiol, Tep Logmao, Iya Villanueva, Mark Gil, Stephen Viñas, Beng Turiano, and Jannah Baniasia.
During the event, Alcasid confirmed that he and his wife, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, will be part of the musical’s cast.
Moreover, Alcasid also shared the musical’s promotional poster on social media, accompanied by the message, “See you next year!”
According to TheaterFansManila, the story follows Roger Kundirana, a former singer-songwriter who rediscovers his passion for music after meeting his daughter’s music teacher.
“Kailangan Kita: An Ogie Alcasid Musical” is scheduled to premiere in May 2027 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts.
