A 100-year-old woman received a ₱100,000 centenarian cash gift from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region III.
Under Republic Act No. 11982, or the Expanded Centenarians Act, senior citizens who reach the age of 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100 are entitled to cash incentives.
Senior citizens who reach 80 to 95 years of age will receive ₱10,000 for every age milestone.
Lola Maximina, a San Luis, Aurora beneficiary, was pleased to receive ₱100,000, saying the cash gift is a big help in covering daily expenses such as food and medicine, reported RH 25 Grace Sansano.
She said her secret to reaching 100 years old is maintaining a healthy diet of greens, lean meats, and rice, while avoiding fatty meats. She said she is not fond of sweets, either.
Lola Maximina, a tall old lady, can walk unassisted and is able to read without lenses.
