The Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) clarified that a photo of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa at the Digos City Memorial Park in Davao del Sur circulating on social media was taken about three years ago, not during this year’s Undas observance.
PRO 11 issued the clarification after an online post featuring the senator at the memorial park circulated on social media and was later picked up by the Daily Tribune.
Following verification, police confirmed that the photograph was old and did not show dela Rosa visiting the cemetery during Undas 2026.
The person who originally posted the photo, Rey Anthony Malig-on, also clarified in the comment section of another media outlet that the image was taken years ago.
Acting PRO 11 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Benigno L. Guzman urged the public to verify the source and date of photos and information before sharing them online.
The police office said old photographs and unverified posts could cause confusion when presented as current events.
PRO 11 also echoed Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.'s call for responsible and truthful communication with the public.
