Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian has vowed to remove 295 infrastructure projects worth ₱8.8 billion from the proposed 2027 national budget due to the lack of supporting documents from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Gatchalian said the projects would be given zero budget allocation unless the necessary documentation is submitted to establish their validity.

The statement came after former DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon disclosed in a letter that 215 projects had been found non-compliant based on the agency’s evaluation.

The findings are consistent with the eight-point red flags identified by Gatchalian during a previous Senate hearing on the DPWH's proposed 2027 budget.

During the hearing, Gatchalian revealed that more than 62%, or 7,107 out of 11,395 infrastructure projects reviewed by his office, had at least one major red flag.

Among the irregularities identified were projects without station numbers and geographical coordinates, lump-sum allocations, overlapping projects, and projects allegedly divided into smaller components.
