The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has launched an investigation into a motorcycle taxi platform provider over allegations that it registered more riders in its online system than allowed under existing regulations.

In a statement on Tuesday, the LTFRB said it could not disclose further details of the investigation as legal proceedings remain ongoing.

The agency also clarified that its decision on the matter is not yet final, as the motorcycle taxi platform provider concerned has filed a pending Motion for Reconsideration.

"As much as the LTFRB wants to provide all the information in relation to the investigation conducted, the agency is constrained to do so in the interest of due process as the legal proceedings are still considered ongoing," the agency said.

The LTFRB said it is prioritizing measures to address the situation of thousands of affected riders who had invested their own resources to earn a living, believing in good faith that they were authorized to operate under existing rules and regulations.

The agency said it is currently developing measures to address the concerns of the affected riders while ensuring that ride-hailing platforms strictly comply with government regulations governing their online rider registration systems.

The LTFRB assured the public that it would continue "working for the welfare and interests of millions of Filipino commuters," as well as those in the public transport and service sectors.
